Thank you Laura

Thanks to Laura Agostino for changing and designing the graphics and layout on Respect for Animals. I'm sure everyone agrees that it now looks gorgeous and is way more practical. See Laura's beautiful little girl Celeste fascinated by the lorrikeet in the Photos Section or on Laura's page.

Our Harry (that's him with me in profile pic) is a big talker too - at least he was, but he has gone quieter in his old age. He was 15 last week, bless his gorgeous soul. His communication was magnificent with all kinds of intonations as if he was...

This is a truly beautiful poem Brenda. So incredibly sad, but beautiful. You have many talents and such a warm and caring heart. Thank you for sharing.

So gorgeous - my cats can't use human words, but they have their own idiosyncratic sounds that sometimes it takes a while to understand - i think Pip thinks i am stupid sometimes! - and she actually does say MEE-YOW!

CRYING

I wrote this after caring for burned and orphaned koalas at the Framlingham bushfires. Do you know the sound of young koalas crying is very similar to a child's cry.

CRYING….

I am young, my fur is grey Mom says I am pretty
She calls me Kooaala, that’s who I am, koala.
We live in an old eucalypt tree
Our being has been good, we eat the leaves
From the blue gum wood, we sleep a lot
I climb on Mom’s back as we make track
To another tree, to chew on the leaves
But the leaves have become dry
And mu… Continue

Two Gorgeous Goats Need New Home

RESCUED GOATS LOOKING FOR A LOVELY HOME!

"Golph" and "Linx", two very docile, friendly and people loving goats are looking for a new home as soon as possible... These goats were "rescued" from the side of a street where they were tethered and left to eat the grass on the side of the road and had no shelter, shade, (no bush, trees around but were literally tied to the fence along a busy road) or water and were left there day in and day out.

When the goats were rescued, they needed a good… Continue

A Very Confronting Slideshow That EVERYONE Needs to See

Chris Jordan's "Midway" Documents the Plight of Albatross Chicks
From "American Photo", October 29 2009

This series of rather disturbing images was taken on Midway Atoll, which as the artist puts it, is a "a tiny stretch of sand and coral near the middle of the North Pacific." Each image depicts the remains of an albatross chick that was killed by their own mothers who mistook trash floating in the ocean for food and fed it to their young. It's a problem that affects tens of thousands of… Continue

Yet Another Plea for Help regarding Greyhound Fostering

Hi, All,

Once again I find myself in need of assistance in the rehoming of a greyhound.

Lizzie is a gorgeous little (approx 26kgs) white & blue girl, born around April 07. Unfortunately, Lizzie is not cut out for the racing life, and is looking for a forever home and a family to call her own.

She is currently in season, so it will be a few weeks before she will be ready for desexing and fostering, but I'd like to get something set up for her ASAP, as her current owner will have her euthan… Continue

Peggy Sue

Dear Wendy, I was so sorry to hear about your beautiful Peggy Sue - even though she was 20 it's still devastating when it happens, isn't it. Your three special boys will miss her very much too and I'll be thinking of you all. With love, Margaret & David x

Sweet Peggy Sue

Our dear sweet Peggy Sue died yesterday, aged 20. Born Oct/Nov 1989 - died 9th Nov 2009.

I rescued Peg when she was a kitten and apart from a total of about 6-8 weeks of my being away from home overnight on business or a couple of little holidays, Peg has slept on my bed for the most part of 20 years. She rarely slept anywhere else.

Each morning, when I came to my office to begin my working day, Peg would snuggle up beside me, in her bed, in the sun in my office and there we would spend the da… Continue

Please Sign this Petition in Support of banning ALL Kangaroo Products - We Must Stop This!

Please sign this petition, it is more than repugnant what they are doing to Australias National Symbol? Not to mention that these creatures are awesome and soooo special!
Every year some 440,000 dependent young Kangaroos are either clubbed to death or left to starve after their mothers have been killed.

Support the call for the EU to ban all Kangaroo products. Please go to here to sign the petition. http://www.440000joeys.eu
